“Heading Home”

Preacher:
Passage: Joshua 4:1-7 and Psalm 27:1-5
Service Type:
The scripture tells us that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. Those who have gone before us and built the homeland we enjoy are whose witnesses and our heroes. On Memorial Day or Decoration Day we honor and remember those who laid the foundation for our lives by their labor and in some cases their blood. They have finished their labor and service and gone home. The only way we can properly respect their memories is to carry on their mission. In times of war, while involved in a pandemic or just going about the task of moving our nation forward we must serve and sacrifice as they did. When our time and service is over we too will head home. There we hope to hear "Well done, good and faithful servant". We know they have heard this affirmation. The question remains: will we?
