“Jesus For President! How Would You Vote?”

Preacher:
Series:
Passage: Luke 9:51-62
Service Type:
Last Sunday Billie Thatcher sang the wonderful old hymn, "Living For Jesus". The first verse says, "Living for Jesus a life that is true, striving to please Him in all that I do, yielding allegiance, glad hearted and free, this is the pathway of blessing for me." Could we really live for Him? Does our belief system please Him?
He prayed "that they all may be one". Can we say that is the desire of our heart? His church in the scripture cared for the less fortunate and sacrificed to provide for them. Are we willing to follow this leading? Can you imagine the political ads on television if Jesus were a candidate?
Yet, the answer to bringing our world together and healing all our ailments is found in the teaching of Jesus Christ and voting with our lives for Him. The only one who has never broken a promise and can be trusted with our lives no matter what befalls us is not a Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Socialist or Independent. He is "Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."  No matter what the election results are on November 3rd if Jesus is Lord of your life - everything will be all right. Don't depend on an elephant or a donkey to save you - trust in the lamb!
