“Looking for a City”
Abraham was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. On this birthday of our nation we are still looking for that city or nation. Unlike Israel, willing to face the difficulties and challenges to bring that to reality, modern America feels entitled and denies belief in God. We all want to be happy. But true happiness cannot be attained without a certain amount of pain and discomfort. Many millions are led astray by cheap hope and ignorant bliss. The amber waves of grain had to be planted and toiled over. The blessings that we receive as Americans were purchased with the blood of our heroes and martyrs. Another birthday? Another chance to recommit to the difficult tasks that lay before us. Freedom has never been free. The city we look for must still be built.
