“The Search For a Better Country”
One of the most recognizable stories in the New Testament is that of the Prodigal Son. It tells of a young son who gathers all his belongings and his inheritance from his father and goes off on a journey to a "far country". It turns out that the place from which he came was far better than the new land he found. Many in the United States find themselves desiring "more" or are dissatisfied with their perceptions of life in this nation. If they were to pack up and head out looking for a better life in a far country they, like the prodigal, would soon yearn for the blessings of their homeland. America isn't perfect, but there truly is no place like home. Here our freedoms embrace us and welcome us with open arms - even when we don't appreciate the amazing gift this country is to the world.
