“Things That Are Higher”
The Gospel writer of Matthew quoted our Lord from his Sermon on the Mount saying "Blessed are they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled." The call is to seek thoughts and actions in our lives that are based on higher motives. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God" is the command. It is a truth of life that we will never achieve or receive anything higher than the goal or desire we set. Hartsough wrote; "I am resolved no longer to linger, charmed by the world's delight; Things that are higher, things that are nobler -- these have allured my sight." In Christ you can have all your heart desires. A person of wisdom gears their earthly goals to heavenly gains!
